The Labour Court did not recommend concession of the Transport Salaried Staff Association and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for compensation over inspectors’ role in implementing new Fares Bye Laws. The Court signed its recommendation on 18 April 1991 and proposed that the sides meet after three months of operation to discuss problems. The unions argued that inspectors faced added responsibilities and greater exposure to assault. Dublin Bus said the work was covered by an earlier agreement and cited protections for inspectors who were assaulted, paid leave for court attendance and possible extra overtime coverage. The Court considered that the 1989 proposals included payment for implementing the company’s proposals.
