In 1990, the Labour Court recommended further talks between Tambrands Ireland and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union about a proposed 39-hour week. The Court recommended that the union accept the company's proposals for use of the Fibre Processing Department's own toilet and rest facilities and limited emergency cover on fibre lines, subject to the company's safeguards and undertakings. It said the parties should discuss how to formalise breaks.
