In 1990, the Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept Fruit Of The Loom International Limited's proposals for introducing a reduced working week in the Dyehouse, after the company undertook to address individual transport difficulties. In a separate claim involving day workers, the Court said the Framework Agreement did not cover workers whose normal week was below 40 hours. It recommended that management examine the remaining workers' hourly-rate claim against productivity and cost effectiveness.
