The Labour Court recommended a 39-hour week at Tillotson Limited from 1 May 1990, with one hour accrued while employees continued to work 40 hours and taken off later. The recommendation was signed on 31 May 1990. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the shorter week from January and opposed conditions it regarded as clawbacks. The Court recommended revised hourly rates, a cap of 48 accrued hours a year, overtime after 40 hours and a trial electronic clocking system. Existing holiday and absenteeism arrangements were to remain unchanged.
