The Labour Court recommended that Wellman International Limited recognise Manufacturing Science Finance and negotiate with it on behalf of assistant shift managers. The recommendation was signed on 28 May 1990. The union renewed its request after the company had not implemented an earlier recommendation. Wellman declined to attend the hearing and said it did not agree that assistant managers should be represented by a trade union.
