In 1990, the Labour Court recommended that a driver at Town Of Monaghan Co-Operative Agricultural and Dairy Society Limited agree to change routes in a dispute over taking his truck home. If transport were privatised, the recommendation said he should have first option on his original route. It was signed on 3 April 1990. The Society said it had reorganised milk collection routes to reduce wasted mileage and offered the driver a nearer route that would let him take the truck home. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued he had been treated unfairly compared with other drivers and sought restoration of the facility and compensation. The hearing was held in Cavan on 6 March 1990.
