The Labour Court did not recommend concession of the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim to restrict cheese imports. The recommendation was signed on 29 March 1990. The union said imports had reduced work requirements for natural-cheese workers and called on Mitchelstown Creameries to manufacture more cheese. Management said buying in cheese had not affected workers’ employment or earnings and supported the Creameries’ competitiveness.
