In 1990, the Labour Court recommended that the Board of Management, Western Care Association and claimant representatives review support staffing, pay and conditions at St. Nicholas School, Ballina. The recommendation was signed on 14 May 1990. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought improved pay and conditions for three workers, who had been rehired at £129 a week after being made redundant in June 1989. The Court said the claim should be addressed as part of the wider review.
