In 1990, the Labour Court recommended that the workers affected by the move from shift work to day work accept RADIO TELEFIS EIREANN’s offer of a one-off payment equivalent to 14 months of roster duty. The recommendation was signed on 10 May 1990. The Amalgamated Engineering Union and National Engineering and Electrical Trade Union also alleged breaches of agreement clauses on subcontracting. The Court said it would hesitate to accept the claim on the evidence, but recommended that management take particular care to follow the clauses during proposed changes.
