In 1990, the Labour Court did not recommend that Fota Wildlife Park Limited concede the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claims for a pay increase and an extra day off. It said the pay claim had merit, but that conceding it at the time would conflict with the Programme for National Recovery. The Court recommended that the parties discuss pay at the first available opportunity and seek a more socially acceptable roster. The recommendation was signed on 2 May 1990.
