In 1990, the Labour Court recommended that Brothers Of Charity Services resolve a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union by paying six years of retrospective annual leave premiums, to 31 March 1989. The Court said it was unacceptable that staff obligations under the Department of Health circular had not been met. The dispute involved non-nursing staff on day duty. Management said it had not received the circular and needed official approval to fund payments. The recommendation was signed on 2 May 1990.
