The Labour Court recommended that a Memory Ireland (Computers) Limited service engineer receive three weeks’ pay per year of service if surplus funds remained after liquidation. The recommendation was signed on 23 April 1990. The worker had about 40 years’ service. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought the enhanced payment and retention of his company car. The company said there were insufficient funds to meet payments to employees made redundant, and that preferential creditors might not be paid in full.
