The Labour Court rejected the Irish Bank Officials’ Association’s claim for a 5% pay increase above the Programme for National Recovery for clerical and administrative workers at International Factors (Ireland) Limited. The recommendation was signed on 23 April 1990. The association argued that inflation, the company’s performance and improved terms for some managers supported an increase. The company said it was applying the programme and needed to control costs to remain competitive. The Court found the association’s arguments did not justify departing from the programme’s terms.
