In 1990, the Labour Court recommended that commission for four consultants at Royal Life (Ireland) Ltd be based on paragraph 13.2 of their 1986 agreement, except for its final sentence. The recommendation was signed on 9 April 1990. The company had sought to bring the transferred consultants’ commission arrangements into line with those of consultants recruited after 1986. Manufacturing Science Finance opposed a reduction, arguing the 1986 agreement protected the four workers’ commission earnings. The Court recommended that the agreed paragraph form the basis for commission payments to the four claimants on a red-circle basis.
