In a recommendation signed on 12 February 1990, the Labour Court found the dismissal of a finisher at Manor Park Home Builders Limited was not unfair. The company had dismissed him and five other operatives in April 1989, each receiving a week’s pay in lieu of notice. Services, Industrial, Professional, Technical Union said the worker had been promised re-employment when work picked up, but was not considered when finishers were later sought. The company said it had not placed those advertisements and would consider re-employing him if suitable work became available. The Court noted that the re-employment offer still stood.
