The Labour Court recommended that University College Dublin compensate a night security supervisor for one year's lost overtime, but did not recommend concession of the claim for parity of the signing-on allowance. The recommendation was signed on 12 February 1990. The worker lost Sunday overtime after responsibility for opening the Animal House was transferred to a technician. The Court said the overtime had been regular and necessary over many years. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought compensation of two and a half times the annual loss; the college cited financial cutbacks and opposed payments for lost overtime.
