In 1990, the Labour Court recommended that the Irish Bank Officials Association accept Woodchester Bank Limited’s offer to increase staff working hours from 33¾ to 36.25 a week, with a £650 lump sum for each worker. The recommendation was signed on 2 February 1990. The association opposed the change, citing assurances that hours would remain unchanged and arguing Dublin staff had distinct arrangements. The bank said staff had become integrated with the wider division and uniform working conditions were needed. The Court recommended acceptance of the bank’s offer, citing the long-term advantages of integration with most staff in the division.
