In 1990, the Labour Court recommended that Irish Press Newspapers Limited and the union arrange a prompt resolution of two casual drivers’ claim to restore a special rate of pay. The special rate, about £37 a day, had been withdrawn after three months. The Court did not set an amount or decide restoration, instead asking the parties to finalise the issue as soon as possible. The recommendation was signed on 2 February 1990.
