The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Transport And General Workers Union accept Waterford Corporation’s offer, amended by deleting its first clause, to settle two claims by full-time fire-service personnel. The recommendation was signed on 18 January 1990. The claims concerned payments when fire calls interrupted meal or free time, including an additional meal allowance. The amended offer retained existing recall payments, extended those terms to certain overlapping fire calls and limited the additional allowance to duties that normally prevented personnel from going home for meals.
