The Labour Court recommended higher pay scales for guides and information officers, and supervisors, employed by the Office Of Public Works at national monuments. The Irish Transport And General Workers' Union had sought increased rates, and the Court found that the work warranted more than the Office's offer. The recommendation was signed on 8 January 1990. It placed guides and information officers on points 5 to 10 of the Clerical Officer scale, and supervisors on a scale from point 15 of that scale to point 4 of the Staff Officer scale, with increases paid under the Programme for National Recovery.
