The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport And General Workers Union’s claim for 25 days’ annual leave for five night porters at Meath Hospital. The recommendation was signed on 27 February 1989. The porters had 23 days’ leave, while a porter transferred from Sir Patrick Dun’s Hospital retained a personal entitlement to 25 days. Meath Hospital said the 23-day terms had been agreed with unions and approved by the Department of Health.
