In 1989, the Labour Court did not recommend concession of the Irish Transport And General Workers Union's claims against University College Dublin for a premium for light cooking duties and an improved pay scale for chefs. The union sought a daily premium for a kitchen porter and canteen assistant who did light cooking, as well as a revised scale for nine chefs and two commis chefs. The Court said there had been no formal pay relationship between the claimants and the comparison categories, and no change in duties to warrant an increase. The recommendation was signed on 21 February 1989.
