Labour Court asks Bord Na Mona to reconsider worker's redundancy application

In 1989, the Labour Court recommended that Bord Na Mona management re-examine a worker's request to join its voluntary redundancy scheme, after declining to recommend that the request be accepted. The worker argued that the refusal was discriminatory and questioned whether a replacement was needed. The Board said applications were subject to management discretion based on operational needs. The Court said the scheme gave management that discretion, but recommended a fresh examination in light of the worker's submission. The recommendation was signed on 10 February 1989.
