The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union's claim for an eating-on-site allowance for two swimming pool attendants at Tralee Urban District Council's sports complex. The union said the attendants lacked adequate canteen facilities and were comparable with other grades receiving the allowance. The council said they had a one-hour lunch break and adequate facilities for meals. The recommendation, signed on 8 February 1989, said the attendants did not qualify for the allowance given the facilities available and the length of the lunch hour.
