The Labour Court recommended accepting proposals from conciliation to resolve a dispute over introducing two-cycle shift working at Nixdorf Computer International Limited in Bray, County Wicklow. The Irish Transport And General Workers' Union sought a four-week minimum payment at shift rate and transport for workers whose shift times fell outside public transport hours. Nixdorf said a two-week minimum was reasonable and opposed providing transport for normal shifts. The recommendation was signed on 6 February 1989. The Court said its recommendation followed the company's undertaking to address problems affecting individuals or groups as shift working began.
