Labour Court recommends review of bus worker’s return to driving

The Labour Court recommended that Dublin Bus review a bus worker’s case in June 1990 after the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union sought his return to driving duties. The recommendation was signed on 28 October 1988. The union said the worker had completed rehabilitation, regained his licence and should resume driving. Dublin Bus cited its policy against returning drivers to the job after a drink-driving conviction, pointing to passenger and road safety. The Court found Dublin Bus had not acted unreasonably, but recommended a further review in light of the worker’s adherence to rehabilitation.
