In 1988, the Labour Court recommended extending an earlier pay recommendation to five senior depotpersons at Bray and Pearse Street stations, following a claim brought by the Rail Operative Trade Union Group against Irish Rail. The Court said the work had become more onerous because of more frequent DART services at Bray and the handling of Outer Suburban Trains at Pearse. Recommendation No. 11269 had earlier provided for a £4 weekly increase for 42 senior depotpersons at nearby halts. The recommendation was signed on 20 September 1988. Irish Rail had argued the workers' duties remained similar to earlier grades and that changing their rate could disrupt its pay structure.
