The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union accept M. Glynn And Sons Limited's redundancy offer, improved by ex-gratia payments of £1,000 per worker with more than 10 years' service and £500 for the worker with less than 10 years' service. The recommendation was signed on 26 April 1988. The union sought three weeks' pay per year of service, in addition to statutory redundancy entitlements and a government rebate. The company said falling sales and losses meant it could not meet the claim or match terms offered in an earlier redundancy round.
