In 1988, the Labour Court did not recommend concession of the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union's claim against Easons Cash & Carry (Wholesale) Limited for a computer ancillary grade payment for four sales staff. The recommendation was signed on 14 April 1988. The union argued the new machines were computers like those operated by office staff who received the payment. The company said the 1985 agreement covered replacement cash registers and that sales staff's work practices had not changed. After visiting the premises, the Court found the arrangements were covered by that agreement.
