In 1988, the Labour Court did not recommend concession of the Irish Distributive And Administrative Trade Union's pay-parity claim against Quinnsworth for workers at its Shannon branch. It recommended deferring the union's separate claim to reduce the working week. The recommendations were signed on 21 April 1988. The union sought pay parity with Limerick stores and a reduction from 40 to 37.5 hours; Quinnsworth said pay and conditions were negotiated locally and Shannon rates compared favourably with other provincial branches. The Court found the scales were out of line with the two nearest stores but not with rates elsewhere nationally.
