In 1988, the Labour Court did not recommend concession of the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union and Irish Print Union's claim against Eason And Son Ltd. for compensation over disruption during store renovations. The unions sought £10 per worker per week. The recommendation was signed on 12 April 1988. The unions said workers faced dust, noise and disruption; the employer said it used screening and restricted heavy drilling during trading hours. The Court accepted that management took reasonable steps to limit inconvenience and that the remaining disturbance was largely unavoidable.
