In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that a worker at the Rehabilitation Institute accept redundancy terms negotiated nationally with the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union. The recommendation was signed on 8 April 1988. After the worker was unsuccessful in applying for the catering supervisor position, the Institute said her duties would be limited to cleaning and her hours reduced to ten a week; she opted for redundancy. The Institute said the position required a trained professional cook and the worker's qualifications were unsuitable. The Court recommended that she accept the national redundancy terms.
