The Labour Court recommended that a worker at the Rehabilitation Institute keep her current salary as a personal rate, frozen until it matched the operative/assistant supervisor rate or she again became a unit supervisor. The recommendation was signed on 25 February 1988. The Irish Transport And General Workers' Union brought the claim after the Institute proposed moving her from unit supervisor to an operative/assistant supervisor role at lower pay. The union sought to preserve her salary and grade after her return from a failed transfer to Swords. The Court said the particular circumstances of that return had led her to retain her rate and grade.
