The Labour Court did not recommend improving a worker's agreed redundancy settlement with Educational Company Of Ireland. The recommendation was signed on 23 February 1988. The worker had volunteered for redundancy and accepted a £7,000 package, inclusive of statutory entitlements, in December 1986. He later returned for temporary relief work and resigned from that job in July 1987. He argued that the settlement was inadequate given his service and that other departing employees had received better terms. The company said it had honoured the agreed package and that the worker had resigned from the temporary job. The Court considered the parties' submissions and recommended no improvement to the settlement.
