In 1988, the Labour Court found the Amalgamated Union Of Engineering Workers (Tass) had correctly interpreted its agreement with McCARTHY & PARTNERS on salary reviews and increments for three technicians. The Court’s recommendation was signed on 15 February 1988. The agreement provided for annual salary reviews in December against relevant local authority scales and for increments on each worker’s individual increment date. McCARTHY & PARTNERS understood that salary would be reviewed only once a year, on the increment date. The Court recommended in line with the union’s interpretation.
