In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that Bus Ath Cliath pay 34 spare conductors wages for the period from 23 August to 14 September 1987, when a strike began. The recommendation was signed on 15 February 1988. The claim was brought by the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union and the National Busworkers’ Union. The conductors had reported to Clontarf Depot during a dispute over redeployment, were marked absent and received no wages. The Court said the situation at Clontarf had not been anticipated when the one-person operation agreement was accepted, and recommended payment for that period.
