The Labour Court recommended that the Central Fisheries Board arrange an assessment of seven Regional Fishery Managers' jobs by the IPC or another qualified body. The recommendation was signed on 12 February 1988. The Irish Transport And General Workers' Union sought to upgrade the managers from Assistant Principal Officer to Principal Officer. The Board argued the claim amounted to a 22% pay rise and said the existing grading was appropriate. The Court also recommended that the Board proceed with a staff scheme for the grade within six months of the recommendation.
