The Labour Court recommended that Brooks Thomas Limited continue existing arrangements for cashing pay cheques and keep the current system of loading hackers in place for the time being. The recommendation was signed on 11 February 1988. The Court did not recommend compensation for early starts and late finishes or enhanced weekly payments for the proposed changes. It recommended a one-off £200 payment to the workers during December 1988 in recognition of their cooperation. The dispute involved the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union and the Marine Port and General Workers' Union.
