The Labour Court recommended that The Irish Film Institute, with other parties involved in its funding, arrange two weeks’ pay per year of service on top of statutory entitlements for two workers facing redundancy. The recommendation was signed on 3 February 1988. The workers, a library supervisor and a book-keeper, had 25 and 19 years’ service. The Federated Workers' Union Of Ireland sought enhanced terms, citing their long service and the Institute’s funding arrangements. The Institute said financial difficulties meant its offer was the most it could afford. The Court noted both the financial difficulties and the workers’ long service.
