Labour Court rejects claim for overtime compensation at Southern Health Board

The Labour Court did not recommend conceding a claim by the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union for compensation after a worker at the Southern Health Board lost regular overtime. The recommendation was signed on 29 January 1988. The union said Saturday and bank-holiday overtime had been regular for years and its loss reduced the worker’s earnings. The Southern Health Board said the overtime was expected to end when its sewerage plant connected to the Cork Corporation system, and that the timing was outside its control. The Court accepted the Board’s position and considered its financial circumstances.
