In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that Dun Laoghaire Corporation pay £150 compensation to a worker who lost earnings after the public toilet service was reorganised. The recommendation was signed on 28 January 1988. The Irish Municipal Employees' Trade Union had sought £2,747.30, based on its estimate of two years' losses. The Corporation cited financial difficulties and said the reorganisation was needed to address overmanning and reduced funding. The Court made its recommendation with regard to an earlier recommendation concerning other attendants.
