The Labour Court recommended that an earlier compensation decision cover front hall overtime and all porters who had lost earnings at Saint Luke’s Hospital. The recommendation was signed on 12 January 1988. The Irish Transport And General Workers' Union said the front hall overtime had been introduced to limit lost earnings after a linear acceleration machine was installed, a point management did not contest. The Court said compensation should be calculated at current rates rather than 1985 rates. It also recommended that hospital management consider delaying two further cost-cutting proposals after a return to work.
