In 1987, the Labour Court recommended reinstating a worker at Irish Fertilizer Industries from 16 November, without compensation for lost earnings. The recommendation was signed on 9 November 1987. The Court found the worker was guilty of gross misconduct but considered dismissal too severe in the circumstances. Reinstatement was conditional on the worker and the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union accepting that gross misconduct had occurred.
