In 1987, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union’s claim concerning the dismissal of a van driver at Marketing Arts. The recommendation was signed on 30 October 1987. The union said the worker had not been allowed to give his account of an incident in Nenagh. Marketing Arts alleged that he disobeyed instructions and threatened a manager; the worker denied the threat. The Court said the employer was within its rights to dismiss him in the circumstances.
