In 1987, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union’s claim concerning a worker dismissed by Aer Lingus. The recommendation was signed on 29 October 1987. The union argued dismissal was too severe despite accepting the worker had a poor attendance record, and proposed a return on special probation. Aer Lingus said it had given him opportunities to improve. The Court said the company had acted properly before dismissing him.
