In 1987, the Labour Court recommended two weeks' pay per year of service in extra redundancy compensation for about 100 former Hospitals Trust (1940) Limited employees, in addition to statutory payments already made. The recommendation was signed on 23 October. The Irish Hospital Sweepstakes Employees' Association had sought at least three weeks' pay per year, citing long service and the closure of the sweepstakes. The liquidator said statutory redundancy had been paid and no extra payments had been agreed. The Court noted uncertainty about the liquidation's final financial outcome and that unclaimed prize money was held for prize winners.
