In 1987, the Labour Court recommended national discussions on a pay-scale issue raised by the Irish Nurses' Organisation at Brothers Of Charity services. It did not recommend conceding the organisation's claim for an unsocial-hours payment for day-roster duties between 8.30 p.m. and 10 p.m. The recommendation was signed on 22 October. The organisation sought a responsibility allowance for about 50 nurses and an evening premium. The Court said the pay-scale anomaly should be addressed nationally.
