In 1987, the Labour Court recommended that International Contract Cleaners Limited renew its offer to workers cleaning rail coaches at Heuston Station, with a one-off £300 payment in lieu of retrospective pay. The recommendation was signed on 12 October 1987. The Irish Transport And General Workers' Union sought a 26th wage-round increase for about 29 full-time and part-time workers. The Court's recommendation also included an £8 weekly basic-wage increase from 1 October 1987 and a further £5 weekly increase from 1 May to 30 November 1988.
