The Labour Court recommended that Swilly Cabinets re-offer the terms agreed at conciliation for its 26th wage round and that workers accept them. The terms included a three-month pay pause followed by a 5% increase for 12 months. The recommendation was signed on 7 October 1987. The Irish Transport and General Workers' Union had sought an 8% increase over 12 months without a pay pause, while the company proposed a six-month pause. Workers had rejected the conciliation terms before the dispute went to the Court.
