The Labour Court did not recommend conceding a claim by the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union (Itgwu), Galway Branch, for compensation for three Bus Eireann engineering operatives. The recommendation was signed on 24 September 1987. The workers said reconstruction at the Galway garage left them working in confined, cold and draughty conditions and sought £160 each. Bus Eireann said it had taken steps to reduce the disruption and that the workers had since moved to improved conditions.
